Lisa Fox
(lf8) is producing this presentation of Australian art which supports a cause with profound, universal impact -- the reconciliation of the Australian goverment with its Indigenous citizens.
The exhibit is multi-disciplinary collaboration conceived by contemporary art photographer,
Russell James, and inspired and co-created by Indigenous Australians. The initiative will be an immersive and moving exhibition, incorporating work by preeminent aboriginal artist,
Clifton Bieundurry, and other Australian artists working in a range of mediums.
The project has involved years of groundwork, including travel to remote, hauntingly beautiful regions of Australia, where senior custodians escorted participating artists to sacred -- often restricted -- burial grounds, gorges and desert locations, all significant in aboriginal spiritual practice. This artistic collaboration includes on-site structures created by Indigenous artists in NW Australia -- installations subsequently filmed, photographed and enhanced by the artistic collaborative -- and James' monumental landscape photographs, hand-embellished by the artists.
The project incorporates a documentary film compenent by
Alison Thompson (The Third Wave).
