Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is known for being one of the most innovative orchestras in Australia. The orchestra earned international acclaim for its playing in the Adelaide Wagner Ring Cycles in 1998 and 2004, along with the subsequent Melba recordings, which brought the ASO to world attention.
The orchestra showcases works of major Australian composers, including Peter Sculthorpe, Graeme Koehne and Ross Edwards. Under the spirited leadership of Chief Conductor and Music Director Arvo Volmer, the orchestra has reached a new level of excellence completing an Australian first recording of the complete Sibelius Cycle.
In its Royce Hall debut, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will perform Ross Edwards and William Barton’s Kalkadungu with Australia’s renowned didgeridoo player, William Barton, the world premiere of Graeme Koehne’s Sleep of Reason with South Australia’s twin cello players, the Ng Brothers, Carl Vine’s V and Sibelius’s Symphony No 5.
Soloists: William Barton, didgeridoo / Pei-Jei and Pei-Sian Ng, cellos
