After two successful productions (
Mercy Thieves /
The Boys), Outhouse Theatre Company is mounting their third NYC production -- the US premiere of the Australian play
RIDE by Jane Bodie.
A man and a woman wake up in bed together and neither can remember how they got there. Or who the other is. In the harsh light of the morning after, they attempt to make sense of what may or may not have happened between them and a complex snapshot of modern relationships gradually comes into focus. RIDE charts the difficulties of achieving real intimacy in our sexually liberated times.
RIDE marks the US premiere of acclaimed playwright Jane Bodie, who captured the attention of the Royal Court and the National with this play when it premiered at the Edinburgh Festival. The Daily Mail called RIDE a "wonderful, life affirming play…" The Irish Times called it "As cerebral as it is sexual…both funny and stunningly lyrical. Honest, human and true…"
Jane Bodie has been nominated for The Patrick White Playwright’s Award (2003) and her play, A Single Act, won the 2007 Victoria Premier’s Award for Best Play.
Outhouse Theatre are looking forward to introducing one of Australia's best playwrights to the United States for the first time. The play will be directed by Nick Flint.
Outhouse was formed in 2006 to foster and showcase the work of Australian theatre artists in NYC.
